First day of Kindergarten!!

Brody has started school. Where has all the time gone? It's illegal for him to be in public school (because Nevada has the dumbest elementary education laws) so he attends a private program. They tell me he's the nicest boy they've ever had in their program. Who am I to argue with them? We were afraid that he was a bit young as he isn't five yet (but less than a month to go), but he passed his initial assessments with flying colors and is doing really well. The first month has been fantastic! He loves school and we have given up the TV in the afternoon until after dinner is done. We either all do homework or we play together.

Brody's handwriting has imroved tremendously since the school year started. He writes all the time and now he loves to teach Brady new things every day. At the beginning of the year he didn't remember what he did at school by the time he got home. Now he remembers just so he can teach his brother! Brady is writing much better as a result.
At this point in his life Brody wishes to be a Paleontologist when he grows up. He is really looking forward to camping all the time and playing in the dirt. I came into class one afternoon to find that all of the students had their aspirations written on the whiteboard. While the fact that Brody wants to be a paleontologist was not news to me, it was very interesting to see that recorded next to some of the other occupational goals of the students. And, I haven't told him how much school it will require, yet. He still has some time to change his mind.
